Who is responsible
Edward Purchase, a sole trader in the United Kingdom trading as Awaysy, is the controller of your personal data. Contact: [email protected].
No account needed
Awaysy has no accounts. What you save stays in your browser and is not synced to us.
What we handle, and why
- Saved places, trips and preferences stay in your browser. We need them to run the features you use. Nothing is sent to us unless a feature below sends it.
- Search text goes to OpenAI to work out what you are looking for. Lawful basis: legitimate interests, in answering the search you asked for.
- Messages to Breeze go to OpenAI to write the reply. We log a random visitor ID made by your browser, with usage figures and which features were used, and not the text of your messages. Lawful basis: legitimate interests, in running Breeze and keeping its cost and quality in check.
- Start from a reel: the link you paste goes to Apify to fetch the reel, its audio to Groq to transcribe it, and its text to Anthropic to find the places in it. We keep the result so the same reel need not be fetched twice. Lawful basis: legitimate interests, in doing what you asked.
- Your IP address is held briefly in memory to limit how often some features can be used. Lawful basis: legitimate interests, in preventing abuse.
- Server and network records: Render hosts the site and keeps server logs; Cloudflare sits in front of it, handling traffic and security. Lawful basis: legitimate interests, in running a secure site.
- Visit statistics: Cloudflare Web Analytics counts visits without cookies. Lawful basis: legitimate interests, in understanding how the site is used.
- Email to us passes through Cloudflare Email Routing to a Gmail inbox run by Google. Lawful basis: legitimate interests, in answering you.
Content your browser loads from others
To show the site, your browser connects to these providers, which see your IP address: Unsplash, Ticketmaster and Google for images, and Stadia Maps for map tiles. We host our own copies of Wikimedia Commons photos; if a copy is missing, your browser fetches that photo from Wikimedia instead. The Travelpayouts flight widget loads only after you agree; see Cookies.
Who receives data
OpenAI, Apify, Groq, Anthropic, Render, Cloudflare and Google, as described above, each only for the job described. We do not sell your data.
Transfers outside the UK
Several of these providers are based in the United States, so data may be processed there, under each provider’s standard terms.
How long we keep it
- Browser data stays until you clear it.
- IP addresses used for limits live in memory only and are lost when the server restarts.
- Breeze usage logs and reel results have no fixed deletion date; we keep them only as long as they are useful.
- Email is kept as long as we need it to deal with what you wrote.
- Providers keep their own records under their own terms.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, to restrict or object to how it is used, and to move it. Email [email protected]. Because we have no accounts, we may need details from you to find anything linked to you.
To remove what is in your browser, open the menu and choose Clear local data.
Complaints
You can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. We would like the chance to put it right first.
